PCW in Focus
It goes without saying that an educated woman is an educated nation. In our
country, women make more than half of the total population but unfortunately,
this class has been deprived of education. It is an established fact that educated
mothers are better mothers as they nourish the next generation in a better way.
So the first target should be to prepare an educated mother. For this purpose we
need such institutes which can play pivotal role in establishing and maintaining
the national values and traditions. Good institutions extend their services to all
members of society regardless of their gender, color and social status.
The 21st century promises even greater breakthroughs in education, research,
development and planning. The Punjab Group of Colleges' response to the
challenges of the new millennium was to realize the need for women education.
PGC had been providing quality education to both boys and girls at all campuses
since its inception at intermediate, graduation and higher level. There were
separate classes for girls in the same campuses. To fulfill the Psychological
needs and give a sense of more security, the management of PGC decided to
focus this important aspect by establishing a chain of Punjab College for Women
at Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan. In all these colleges,
management skills are being re-defined constantly. Since the traditional modes
of economic & scientific activity have altered drastically, for a developing country
like Pakistan, it is imperative that women develop scientific and business skills of
an international standard.
Medical and engineering fields have always been the basic needs of a society.
PCW have complete infrastructures to meet the growing demands of these
disciplines.
PGC's countrywide reputation as a house of superior learning is beyond any
doubt and all campuses throughout the province deservedly share this
reputation. It is a world within a world, and a fine blend of individual glory and
academic excellence.
The high level of teaching at PCW can be well understood from the fact that
every year our students bag top positions throughout the Punjab. The long chain
of position holders in Board exams has never been broken.
This year, Riffat Aziz was declared 1st in B.Com in Punjab University whereas in
Bahauddin Zakrya University, Multan, our students, Mehwish Malik stood 1st,
Similarly at Intermediate Level, our female students gave excellent results. Eight
students stood 1st in their respective Boards in Pre-Medical, Commerce, Pre-
Engineering, General Science and Humanities Groups.
Overall, in eight Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education, our girl students
secured 31 top positions.
Our students have proved their worth both in academics as well as in co-curricular activities. Girls, fully and enthusiastically, participate in all kinds of extra curricular activities like quiz programs, debates, mushairas, mehfil-e-milad, cultural melas & sports. They compete for badminton, cricket, cycling, shot put, athletics & tug of war. Such activities inculcate discipline in these students.
