User can add different types of items like, books, magazines, company reports, pamphlets, maps and multimedia items (Audio, Video, CD, Floppy disks). The system assigns a unique Accession Number to each item.
For the existing items in the library the existing Accession Numbers can be used. System allows the user to add attachments to books and magazines. For example, a book comes with a CD inside. The book and CD both are given the same Accession Number. The attachments may be issued independent of the parent item. Multiple copies of the same item can also be added with unique accession numbers. The acquisition module is a user-friendly two-screen solution.

This module is used to define members of the library in different categories like Student, Staff, Permanent/Visiting Faculty, Honorary Member. The membership cards are printed by the system along with the photograph.
Each member is assigned a bar code that is printed on the membership card. For each member type, user can define the type and limit of items that can be issued.

This module is used to issue and receive items to the members of the library. Items can only be issued to a member if the member has no fine overdue and has not utilized the limit of items. On returning the items, the items are checked for due date and if delayed a penalty is imposed on the member. Penalties are defined in the system according to each member type. If the returned item is reserved by another member of the library, the system prompts the user and sends an automatic email to the member who has reserved the item. If the member does not get the reserved item issued in a week, it is made available to all members of the library or to the next person in queue who reserved the item.

Two types of searches are available in the system.

Dynamic Search:
Using this type of search, the user can find any item by selecting one of its attributes like, title, author, publisher etc. The search works like "As the user types in, the list of results gets closer and closer to the item that the user is looking for".

Advanced Search:
Using this search, user can search an item by building a complex query using different attributes of the items and the logical operators AND, OR , NOT etc.
